Week 02

 WEEKLY LECTURE | 11-13 JANUARY 2021

This week, the lecture thought us about research and project planning. The project design is about filling a gap in the market. The importance of creating a questionnaire, it allows us to understand our audience and what they want. It also allows us to research by helping us understand the trends driven changes in the industry. This would help us understand more about our target audience base on our topic. There is some question asked by the lecture that made me think before creating the project.

Questions:
1. What do you know about the medium you have chosen right now?
ans: I have chosen to create AR/VR and Arduino. Virtual Reality (VR) is created by computer technology to create a simulated environment. Augmented Reality (AR) is mainly focused on entertainment and educational sectors. (Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, 2021)

2. How have they impacted on your choices?
ans: I am quite new to create AR/VR and Arduino, I had done some research base on the medium and found it quite challenging. It is quite interesting to learn new things as they can be used in the future.

3. How do they relate to your rationale for your project?
ans:
VR/AR
  • Create a monotone world and plus some interesting interaction inside to let the audience explore the virtual world

*By creating simple tasks in the virtual world to help the colour blindness people, so that in reality they would understand and know what to do.”

  • Create an understanding of colour blindness people.

  • Don’t take advantage of colour.

In conclusion, it allows me to think more about the media that I have chosen and how is the project going to help the target audience.

Further Research

Topic “Decoloring”

After confirming which topic I would want to do, I had started to create a questionnaire this week. The questionnaire would be involving the topic which is the understanding of colour blindness research. This research will help me understand the percentages of people understanding what is colour blindness.

What can be improved?

People nowadays don’t understand the importance of colour. Instead of helping the colourblindness to understand colour, we can let society to understand how their worlds look like.

Why is it important to understand colour?

Colour plays a vitally important role in the world which we live. Colour is important; it can sway thinking, change actions, and even cause reactions. It can irritate or soothe your eyes, raise your blood pressure or suppress your appetite. When used in the right ways, colour can even save on energy consumption.

Colour is a powerful communication tool that can be used to signal action, influence physiological reactions, and even influence our mood. Certain colours have been associated with increases in metabolism, blood pressure, and eyestrain. (Color blindness – Symptoms and Treatments for Color Blindness : Bausch + Lomb, 2021)

Media

VR/AR

  • Create a monotone world and plus some interesting interaction inside to let the audience explore the virtual world.

*By creating simple tasks in the virtual world to help the colour blindness people, so that in reality they would understand and know what to do.”

  • Create an understanding of colour blindness people.

  • Don’t take advantage of colour.

Research Question

How to help people to understand colour blindness difficulty?

What difficulties does colour blindness face?

  • Difficulty distinguishing between colours

  • Inability to see shades or tones of the same colour

  • Colours on food impact are important; it may create an unbalanced diet.

As a child, it is quite difficult for them to learn as there is a lack of colour for them to differentiate. (Brianna BischoffOphthalmic Science Student, 2021) Unfortunately, there is no known cure for colour blindness. There are contact lenses and glasses with filters to help colour deficiencies.

The symptoms of colour blindness are often observed by their parents when they are young. There are also symptoms that are slight, that they may not even notice.

After I have done some understanding of Colour blindness, I have also searched for some questions to ask my target audience on "Do they understand the importance of colour in our daily life?". This research would help me to understand how many people understand what is colour blindness.

Last check before sending out the questionnaire.
